Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Bioaccumulation factors (BCF) are reported as 1470 (C14), 1736 (C16) and 2427 (C18) for fish exposed to food containing a close chemical analogue of the substance. The corresponding bioaccumulation factor for fish exposed to feed containing the control substance, hexachlorobenzene, was a factor of 10 higher at 2344.

Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.11: PBT Assessment states that a value > 2000 is indicative of a PBT substance. One of the three chain lengths of the read-across material is slightly greater than this value, however, it is considered unlikely that the C18 fraction responsible for the experimentally derived BCF value would ever be present in sufficient concentration to cause this effect in normal environmental conditions: this congener is one of the lower concentrations present in the material, and also is normally present as part of a complex mixture which is unlikely to separate and exhibit these different BCF potentials. Both this material and the material being Registered are therefore not considered likely to demonstrate bioaccumulation potential.
