Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

If inhaled:

If breathed in, move person into fresh air.

If symptoms persist, call a physician.

In case of skin contact:

Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately.

Wash off immediately with plenty of water.

Call a physician immediately.

In case of eye contact:

Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 5 minutes.

Remove contact lenses.

If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.

If swallowed:

If swallowed, rinse mouth with water (only if the person is con-scious).

Call a physician immediately

Symptoms:

Inhalation may provoke the following symptoms: Spasmic reactions

Skin contact may provoke the following symptoms: May cause sensitisation by skin contact.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

Water mist

Dry powder

Foam

Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Sand

Aqueous film forming foam (AFFF).

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Water spray jet

Specific hazards during fire-fighting: Risk of dust explosion.

Hazardous combustion products: Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Carbon oxides, Bromine compounds

Special protective equipment for firefighters: In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Further information: Avoid dust formation.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

In the event of an accidental release the emergency response team must respond based on a risk assessment and use personal protective equipment as appropriate.

Avoid breathing dust.

Avoid dust formation.

Evacuate personnel to safe areas.

Environmental precautions:

Should not be released into the environment.

Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.

Methods for cleaning up:

Pick up and arrange disposal without creating dust.

Sweep up and shovel into suitable containers for disposal.

Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Keep in properly labelled containers.

Treat recovered material as described in the section "Disposal considerations".

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling:

Ensure all equipment is electrically grounded before beginning transfer operations.

To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat.

Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.

Avoid inhalation, ingestion and contact with skin and eyes.

Use personal protective equipment as required.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Avoid dust formation.

Hygiene measures: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Requirements for storage areas and containers: To maintain product quality, do not store in heat or direct sun-light. Store in original container. Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Store at room temperature.

Recommended storage tem-perature: 15 - 25 °C

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering measures

Engineering controls should be used as the primary means to control possible exposures. Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep exposure levels below recommended exposure limits.

All personal protective equipment should be based on a risk assessment. Consult a Environment Health Safety expert if necessary

Personal protective equipment

Eye protection: Tightly fitting safety goggles

Hand protection: Neoprene. Remark:  Long sleeve gloves Take note of the information given by the producer concerning permeability and break through times, and of special workplace conditions (mechanical strain, dura-tion of contact). Impervious gloves.

Skin and body protection: closed work clothing, disposable one-piece overall

Respiratory protection:

Engineering controls should always be the primary method of controlling exposures.

If respiratory protective equipment is needed for certain activities, the type as well as the corresponding protection factor will depend upon the risk assessment and air concentrations, hazards, physical and warning properties of substances pre-sent.

Use only respiratory protection that conforms to international/ national standards.

Suitable mask with particle filter P3

Protective measures: The type of protective equipment must be selected according to the concentration and amount of the dangerous substance at the specific workplace.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: None reasonably foreseeable.

Chemical stability: Stable under recommended storage conditions.

Possible  hazardous reactions: No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use.

Conditions to avoid: To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat. Heat, flames and sparks. Avoid dust formation.

Materials to avoid: Strong oxidizing agents

Hazardous decomposition products: Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Carbon oxides, HBr

Disposal considerations

Product: Must be incinerated in a suitable incineration plant holding a permit delivered by the competent authorities. In accordance with National, Federal, State and Local regula-tions.

Contaminated packaging: Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste han-dling site for recycling or disposal
