Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Eye contact - rinse immediately with tap water for 10 minutes - open eyelids forcibly - consult a physician if irritation persists
Skin contact - remove immediately contaminated clothes, wash affected skin with water and soap - do not use any solvents
- consult a physician if skin irritation persists
Inhalation - remove the casualty to fresh air and keep him/her calm - in the event of symptoms get medical treatment Note to physician - treat symptomatically

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media - water spray jet, dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide Unsuitable extinguishing media - full water jet
Specific hazards - formation of toxic and corrosive combustion gases (nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, hydrogen bromide
(HBr)) possible - consider dust explosion hazard
Protection of fire-fighters - chemical incident emergency response unit with full protective equipment - precipitate gases/vapours/mists with water spray
Special method of fire-fighting - cool endangered containers with water spray

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions - keep people away and stay on the upwind side
Environmental protection - do not allow to enter drains or waterways
Methods for cleaning up - take up mechanically and dispose of

Handling and storage

Handling
Technical measures - processing in closed systems, if possible superposed by inert gas (e.g. nitrogen) - local exhaust ventilation necessary - take precautionary measures against electrostatic charging - avoid dust formation; high dust explosion hazard Suitable materials - plastic, polyethylene

Storage
Storage conditions - below 40 °C - store under inert gas Validity - several months
Packaging materials - tightly closing; material: polyethylene, big bag (lined with polyethylene bag)

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering Measures - see above

Personal protective equipment
Respiratory protection - in case of open handling of larger quantities or accidental release: particle mask or respirator with independent air supply Hand protection - protective gloves Eye protection - safety glasses

Stability and reactivity

Stability - stable under the conditions mentioned in chapter 7 Conditions to avoid - air - temperatures above 150 °C
Hazardous decomposition products
- sulphur oxides (SOx) - hydrogen bromide - nitrous oxides

Disposal considerations

Waste from residues - observe local/national regulations regarding waste disposal
- incinerate in qualified installation with flue gas scrubbing
