EFFECT PARAMETERS MEASURED (with observation intervals if applicable) :
- Each test vessel was checked for immobilized daphnias at 24 and 48 hours after the beginning of the test. In addition to immobility, any abnormal behavior or appearance were recorded. Those animals that were not able to swim within 15 seconds, after gentle agitation of the test vessel were considered to be immobilised (even if they can still move their antennae).
- The hardness of water was measured before the test.
- Dissolved oxygen and pH of test media were measured in each replicate vessel for both control and test solutions at the beginning of the test and the end of the test.
- Temperature (for water bath): it was monitored continuously by automatic temperature monitoring system.

During the 48-hour exposure period, no immobilisation and visible toxic sign was observed in the blank control groups and the test group.
The results showed that for the nominal test item concentration of 100 mg/L, the mean determined concentration in 0-hour and 48-hour media were 25.5 mg/L and 22.8 mg/L. The overall mean determined concentration was 24.2 mg/L.
Results with reference substance (positive control):
The 24-hour EC50 of Potassium dichromate was 1.39 mg/L (95% confidence limits: 1.14 mg/L - 1.69 mg/L).

Executive summary:
