Any other information on results incl. tables

As the boiling tube was heated, gradual darkening was observed at elevated temperature, but no boiling below 360˚C. As it was difficult to ascertain the onset of this apparent decomposition, DSC was also employed to further investigate.

The DSC trace showed gradual deviation from the baseline from approximately 250°C, with a significant exotherm noted at approximately 300˚C. The observations were consistent with decomposition of the test item. A dark brown residue was present in the crucible at the end of the test.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The boiling temperature of 2-Bromo-6-(4-toluoyl)pyridine was not determinable as the test item decomposed at temperatures above approximately 250°C without boiling.
