Description of key information

In accordance with REACH Annex VII, section 7.11., this study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test item contains no chemical groups which are associated with explosive properties (with the exception of one C-C double bond that is stabilized by conjugation).

Further, the test item has an oxygen balance of less than -200 (oxygen balance of test item = -290.53) and DSC measurements (see section 4.3) indicate that there is no exothermic decomposition up to 400 °C (an endothermic peak at the boiling point of 226.3 °C consuming energy is observed). Therefore, high temperature may not trigger any exothermic decomposition of the test item. To conclude, the test item has no explosive properties, no additional test should be conducted on this property, and no related classification applies to the test item.
