First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

General information

When in doubt or if symptoms are observed, get medical advice. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing and wash it before reuse.

After inhalation

Remove casualty to fresh air and keep warm and at rest. If experiencing respiratory symptoms immediately call a doctor.

After contact with skin

Wash with plenty of water and soap.

After contact with eyes

Rinse eyes with water as a precautionary measure. If eye irritation persists call an ophthalmologist.

After ingestion

Rinse mouth immediately and drink plenty of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person or a person with cramps. Call a physician immediately.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Spasms, tremble

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

No further relevant information available.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media

water spray jet, foam, carbon dioxide (CO2), dry extinguishing powder

Unsuitable extinguishing media

High power water jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Risk of explosion if heated under confinement.

Dust can form an explosive mixture with air.

Emission of irritating and toxic fumes and gases. Release of: Carbon oxides, Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), Sulphur oxides

Advice for firefighters

Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical protective clothing. Full protection suit

Additional information

Cool endangered containers by water spray or water jet. Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. Do not allow entering drains or surface water.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Provide adequate ventilation. Avoid dust formation. Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray. Use personal protection equipment. Remove all sources of ignition.

Environmental precautions

Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Take up mechanically. Use suitable dust binding material. Clean up affected area.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling

Provide sufficient ventilation and/or local exhaust system. Avoid dust formation. Do not breathe dust..

Advice on protection against fire and explosion

Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking. Avoid dust deposits. Any unavoidable deposit of dust must be regularly removed.

Further information on handling

Avoid dust deposits.

Requirements for storage rooms and vessels

Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place.

Hints on joint storage

For storage in a common place refer to the respective regulations.

Further information on storage conditions

Store protected from light.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Appropriate engineering controls

Provide adequate ventilation as well as local exhaustion at critical locations.

Protective and hygiene measures

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice: Do not eat, drink, and smoke. Wash hands before break and after work. Remove contaminated, saturated clothing immediately.

Eye/face protection

Wear eye/face protection. (DIN EN 166)

Hand protection

Wear suitable gloves. (DIN EN 374)

The quality of the protective gloves resistant to chemicals must be chosen as a function of the specific working place concentration and quantity of hazardous substances. For special purposes, it is recommended to check the resistance to chemicals of the protective gloves mentioned above together with the supplier of these gloves.

Skin protection

Wear suitable protective clothing.

Choose suitable personal protection equipment dependent on substance concentration and amount specific for workplace. Chemical resistance should be clarified with the supplier.

Respiratory protection

In case of inadequate ventilation wear respiratory protection.

Respiratory protection mask with Filter P3 recommended. Maintenance, testing and change of the filter cartridges must be performed following the recommendations of the supplier.

Environmental exposure controls

Avoid release to the environment.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

In general: For flammable organic substances dust explosion potential is assumed when finely dispersed in air.

Chemical stability

The substance is chemically stable under recommended conditions of storage, use and temperature.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

Hazardous polymerisation does not occur.

Conditions to avoid

Keep away from sources of heat (e.g. hot surfaces), sparks and open flames.

Incompatible materials

strong oxidizing agents,

strong bases, strong acids

iodine, iron(III) salts

Hazardous decomposition products

No known hazardous decomposition products

Disposal considerations

Advice on disposal

Chemicals and packages as waste must be disposed of in accordance with Directive 2008/98/EC and the respective national and local regulations. Consult your local or regional authorities. Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains.

Contaminated packaging

Non-contaminated packages may be recycled. Handle contaminated packages in the same way as the substance itself.
