PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

An extensive set of data on the endpoints used for the assessment of the properties regarding persistence, bioaccumulation potential and toxicity is available for the substance benoxacor. The data on biotic and abiotic degradation indicate that the substance is not persistent in the environment and does not produce any environmental degradates or metabolites having greater persistence in soil, water or sediments. The log Kow = 2.6 and the equilibrium bioconcentration factor of 94 in fish demonstrate that the substance does not possess significant bioaccumulation potential. The available reliable studies on the aquatic chronic toxicity of the substance to organisms from three trophic levels give NOEC values greater than 0.01 mg/L. The reliable studies on toxicity after repeated sub-chronic or chronic exposure, on reproductive and developmental toxicity, mutagenicity and carcinogenicity do not reveal specific target organ toxicity and do not trigger classification as mutagenic, carcinogenic or toxic for reproduction.
