Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Boiling chain, heating switched off

317.4 °C, steam visible in the head space

303.5 °C: superheating occurred, nearly all of the sample evaporated suddenly. The residue appeared red-brown.

321.9 °C, steam visible in the head space

No bubbles visible

Approx. 251 °C

Approx. 250 °C

Return into the boiling capillary

240.9 °C, colour changed to slightly yellow

239.6 °C, colour changed to slightly yellow

Obtained values of 240.9 °C and 239.6 °C were determined at 1003.0 hPa and at 1002.82 hPa, respectively. The second determination yielded no reliable results due to superheating. The values were corrected to standard pressure of 1013.25 hPa, using Sidney-Young equation. The procedure resulted in 241.4 °C and 240.1 °C, respectively, and the mean value is 240.8 °C. The standard deviation is ± 0.9 °C. Since the difference between the two determinations was below 2 °C (2 K), the result can be considered valid.

Description of key information

240.8. ± 0.9 °C at 1013.25 hPa (OECD 103, EU A.2)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
241 °C

Additional information

The boiling point of the substance trihexyl phosphate (CAS No. 2528-39-4) was determined using Siwoloboff method. The change of colour of the sample was interpreted as signs of decomposition at boiling temperature.
