There is a reliable study of acute toxicity for 2-EHDPP and other related phosphites. While all show some signs of acute toxicity, these effects occurred only at massively high doses (well above those used in current guidelines). Overall 2-EHDPP appears to have a low order of acute toxicity.

Additional information

There are acute toxicity data for 2 -EHDPP and is close chemical analog diphenyl isodecyl phosphite (DPDP) for oral, dermal and inhalation routes. The data show a low order of acute toxicity. 

 


Justification for selection of acute toxicity – oral endpoint
While mortality and other effects were observed, they occurred at very high doses that would not be used in current guideline studies. The LD50s were all well above the classification limit of 2000 mg/kg.
