Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods: Manual of Tests and Criteria: UN Test N.4
Version / remarks:
2015 / The preliminary screening test for self-heating substances according to Recommendations on the TRANSPORT OF DANGEROUS GOODS: Manual of Tests and Criteria: UN Test N.4 was performed, since this is recommended for evaluation and classification.

Key result
Remarks on result:
no self ignition observed under the test conditions

In the Bowes-Cameron-Cage test with a 1 L wire basket at 140 °C no spontaneous ignition occurred and no exothermic effect of the test item was observed. The temperature increase was below the threshold of 60 °C within 24 hours. According to the UN guideline, no further testing is required.

After the experiment, the consistency of the sample was unchanged, i.e. no reaction and/or decomposition of the test item was observed.

See attached document "S-600 - SELF-HEATING TEMPERATURE_Temperature vs Time.pdf".

Conclusions:
Based on the negative result obtained in the Bowes-Cameron-Cage test with a 1 L wire basket at 140°C, the test item has not to be classified as self-heating substance according to CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008.

Description of key information

no self-heating substance (UN Test N.4).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The test item has not to be classified as self-heating substance according to CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008.
