Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Materials and methods

Test guideline
equivalent or similar to guideline
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Modulated DSC was used for glass transition analysis during this study and is a technique in which a sinusoidal temperature oscillation is overlaid with the standard linear DSC experiment. This increases resolution and allows for thermal events due to changes in heat capacity to be separated from thermal events due to kinetics. A glass transition (Tg) is a thermal event due to changes in heat capacity and therefore if a given specimen has a Tg it will occur in the reversing heat flow. This technique also removes any thermal history from the thermal event therefore a second heat cycle is not needed. The midpoint is used to represent the glass transition, although the glass transition occurs over a temperature range.
