Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

pKa: 10.41 at 25°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A literature review was conducted. In a weight of evidence approach the literature values were evaluated. Kortum (1961) reports the dissociation constant to be pKa = 10.41 at 25 °C. The REAXYS database reports two independent literature values (Tomas et al. 1987 and Riccardi et al. 1957). In both publications the dissociation constant was reported to be 10.43 at 25 °C and 10.46 at 20 °C. In addition the Lange's Handbook of Chemistry (15th Edition) reports the dissociation constant to be 10.22 without information about the temperature. All values are in the same range. The dissociation constant of 10.41 represents the median of all values and therefore was chosen as key value.
