Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Phototransformation in air

The stability of trimethyl benzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylate in the atmosphere was calculated using the computer program AOPWIN (v 1.92). It is predicted that the substance will be degraded in the atmosphere by reaction with photochemically-produced hydroxyl radicals. The half-life for this reaction in air is estimated to be 23.0 days.

The overall degradation rate constant with OH radicals is estimated to be equal to 6.025E-8 cm3/(molecule-day).

Hydrolysys

The stability of the test material against hydrolysis was estimated using the ARChem SPARC online tool, module Hydrolysis.

A base-catalysed second-order hydrolysis rate constant (Kb) of 0.1567 L/(mol-sec) at 25 deg C was determined using a structure estimation method. This corresponds to half-lives of 140.3 years at pH 5, 1.40 years at pH 7 and 5.12 days at pH 9.
