Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Burning time:
< 2 min
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

The pile melted but failed to ignite during the two minutes that the Bunsen flame was applied.

The result of the preliminary screening test obviated the need to perform the definitive test.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The test item is not classified as a flammable solid.
Executive summary:

The hazardous physico chemical properties of DNAN have been determined. The results are summarized below:

Flammable Solids. Not classified as a flammable solid, using a procedure designed to be compatible with Test N.1 of the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods manual of Tests and Criteria, 5th revised edition 2009 and Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of 16 December 2008 on Classification Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures.

Description of key information

The test item is not classified as a flammable solid.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

The flammability determination was conducted as a package of hazardous physicochemical testing on DNAN (Envigo Research Limited, DH30BX, 2018). Testing was performed using a procedure designed to be compatible with Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of 16 December 2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures and Method N.1 of United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, Fifth revised edition, 2009, and in compliance with GLP. The flammability was determined by measuring the burning rate of test item prepared as a pile of set dimensions.

The pile melted but failed to ignite during the two minutes that the Bunsen flame was applied. The test item is not classified as a flammable solid.
