Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Cesium fluoroaluminate is not expolsive.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

According to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VII, Section 7.11, Column 2, the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties. A differential scanning calorimetric analysis (DSC, OECD 102,103) under nitrogen was conducted for this substance, which can be used as a screening for the determination of explosive properties. This DSC-measurement showed in the temperature range of 380 °C – 470 °C an endothermic effect (melting), no further thermic effects could be observed up to the maximum measured temperature of 500 °C. Since the decomposition energy is below 500 J/g a main test for explosive properties is unnecessary (Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods / Manual of Tests and Criteria (ST/SG/AC.10/11/Rev.3), page 398).
