Additional information

The toxicity of the substance to aquatic invertebrates was evaluated concerning data from two short-term studies on the substance.

In the key study performed according to EPA OPPTS 850.1010 and OECD Guideline 202 and in GLP compliance, Daphnia magna were exposed to EPA OPPTS 850.1010 and OECD Guideline 202 for 48 hours under semi-static conditions. Three replicates of ten organisms were treated with each concentration of the test substance. Dose concentration analysis was performed. Dissolved oxygen, temperature, conductivity and pH measurements were recorded at dosing and 24 and 48 hours after dosing. Observations for immobility in each test chamber were made daily.

In the supporting study performed according to OECD Guideline 202 and EPA OPPTS 850. 1010 in compliance with GLP, 10 daphnids/vessel (test and control) were exposed to concentrations of 0, 62.5, 125, 250, 500 and 1000 mg/l dissolved in moderately hard synthetic fresh water. The mobility of the daphnids was observed and recorded daily. No dose verification was performed. No significant immobilization was observed at any concentration for a period of 48 h.

The value chosen as key for the chemical safety assessment is the lowest effect level, i.e. the worst-case scenario, and is based on measured and not nominal concentrations. In any case, the effect levels obtained in both studies are comparable.
