Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The PBT Assessment for D-Glucopyranose, oligomeric, C10-16-alkyl glycosides, carboxymethyl ethers, sodium salts (CAS 383178-66-3) is based on the criteria set out in the “Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.11: PBT Assessment” (ECHA, 2012d).

Persistence

D-Glucopyranose, oligomeric, C10-16-alkyl glycosides, carboxymethyl ethers, sodium salts is readily biodegradable in one study according to OECD 301B (67.9% (O2 consumption) after 28 d). Thus, the test substance does not meet the screening criterion for persistence and it is not considered to be P or vP.

Bioaccumulation

Based on the experimental 1-octanol/water partition coefficient of - 1.7, accumulation of the substance in organisms is not to be expected. Thus the substance is not considered to be B or vB.

Toxicity

The long-term toxicity of the substance is > 0.01 mg/L. The substance is not classified for specific target organ toxicity, carcinogenicity, mutagenicity or reproductive and developmental toxicity in mammals (see section 5.9). The criteria for “T” based on mammalian effects are therefore not met. Thus, the criteria set out in Annex XIII of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 are not met and the substance is considered to be not T.
