Guidance on Safe Use

First-aid measures

First aid personnel should pay attention to their own safety. If the patient is likely to become unconscious, place and transport in stable sideways position (recovery position). Immediately remove contaminated clothing.

If inhaled:

Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, seek medical attention. Immediately administer a corticosteroid from a controlled/metered dose inhaler.

On skin contact:

Immediately wash thoroughly with plenty of water, apply sterile dressings, consult a skin specialist.

On contact with eyes:

Immediately wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open, consult an eye specialist.

On ingestion:

Do not induce vomiting. Immediately rinse mouth and then drink 200-300 ml of water, seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: foam, water spray.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Nitrogen oxides and carbon oxides can be released in case of fire. Under certain conditions in case of fire other hazardous combustion products may be generated.

Advice for fire-fighters

Special protective equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-protective clothing.

Further information:

Collect contaminated extinguishing water separately, do not allow to reach sewage or effluent systems. Dispose of fire debris and contaminated extinguishing water in accordance with official regulations.

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Avoid inhalation.

Pick up with suitable appliance and dispose of.

Collect waste in suitable containers, which can be labeled and sealed. Dispose of in accordance with national, state and local regulations.

Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas. Hands and/or face should be washed before breaks and at the end of the shift. Protection against fire and explosion:

Prevent electrostatic charge - sources of ignition should be kept well clear - fire extinguishers should be kept handy.

Respiratory protection:

Respiratory protection in case of vapour/aerosol release. Combination filter for gases/vapours of organic compounds and solid and liquid particles (f.e. EN 14387 Type A-P2)

Hand protection:

Chemical resistant protective gloves (EN 374)

Manufacturer's directions for use should be observed because of great diversity of types.

Supplementary note: The specifications are based on tests, literature data and information of glove manufacturers or are derived from similar substances by analogy. Due to many conditions (e.g. temperature) it must be considered, that the practical usage of a chemical-protective glove in practice may be much shorter than the permeation time determined through testing.

Eye protection:

Tightly fitting safety goggles (cage goggles) (e.g. EN 166) and face shield.

Body protection:

chemical-protection suit (f.e. according to EN 14605)

General safety and hygiene measures

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wearing of closed work clothing is required additionally to the stated personal protection equipment. When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Hands and/or face should be washed before breaks and at the end of the shift. Gloves must be inspected regularly and prior to each use.  Replace if necessary (e.g. pinhole leaks). Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Store work clothing separately.

No hazardous reactions if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.

Corrosion to metals: Corrosive effects to metal are not anticipated. In the presence of water or moisture metal corrosion cannot be excluded.

Formation of flammable gases: Remarks:       Forms no flammable gases in the presence of water.
