Description of key information

The degradation rates of the constituents of the submission substance are below

Abiotic degradation:

The constituents of the submission substance hydrolyse moderately to rapidly in contact with water to form their corresponding silanol hydrolysis products and methanol.

Biotic degradation:

The constituents of the submission substance are expected to undergo hydrolysis during the timeframe of biodegradation in water study to form their corresponding silanol hydrolysis products and methanol. No significant biodegradation of the silanol hydrolysis products are expected.

Methanol is readily biodegradable.

The half-life in air ranges from 0.1 to 17 days and 0.1 to 1.5 days for the constituents of the substance and their silanol hydrolysis products respectively.
