Description of key information

The registration substance is a UVCB substance containing many constituents. All of the constituents of the substance hydrolyse moderately to rapidly forming the corresponding silanol hydrolysis products and methanol. Further details on the hydrolysis reactions are attached in Section 13. Therefore, the environmental hazard assessment for aquatic, sewage treatment plant, sediment and soil are based on the parent constituents and/or hydrolysis products depending on the hydrolysis half-lives of the constituents in accordance with REACH guidance for Chemical Safety Assessment (Chapter R.16).

Methylsilanetriol (Silanol HP-X), (3-aminopropyl)silanetriol (Silanol HP-Z), disilyl(alkylamine)-heptol (Silanol HP-Y) and trisilyl(alkylamine)-undecol (Silanol HP-W) are the expected final products of hydrolysis reactions under conditions of a hydrolysis laboratory study and are the hydrolysis products relevant to conventional REACH Chemical Safety Assessment. However, other biotic or abiotic reactions may occur over longer time-scales in the environment.
