Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The effect of the Test Item (BAL0001026) on algal growth was assessed using the unicellular green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (Selenastrum capricornutum), over an exposure period of 72 hours.

As no toxic effect was observed at the solubility level of the Test Item in the preliminary test, only one Test Item concentration (at 100% saturated solution[based on a 100 mg/L loading rate; the solution is considered to be saturated]) and one Control group were tested in a Limit test in the definitive study.

Test concentrations were determined analytically at the start and at the end of each renewal periods. In the 100 % saturated solution concentration was tested. The measured analytical concentration results were all defined as not detected. The biological results are based on the nominal concentrations.

In the Limit Test, 6 replicates at the maximum Test Item concentration and 6 replicates for the untreated Control were evaluated for their effect on growth, measured through the determination of biomass after incubation of the algae with the test or control items.

Under the conditions of this study, the ErC50, EbC50 and EyC50 values of the Test Item were determined directly from the raw data.

The 72h EbC50 value:           > 100% saturated solution (nominal)

The 72h ErC50 value:           > 100% saturated solution (nominal)

The 72h EyC50 value:           > 100% saturated solution (nominal)

The 72h NOEC:                     100% saturated solution (nominal)

The 72h LOEC:                      > 100% saturated solution (nominal)

Based on the results of this study, the Test Item had no toxic effect at saturation therefore; the EC50 and the LOEC results are higher than the solubility level of the Test Item in the test medium.
