Additional information

Aquatic toxicity studies have been carried out according to standard OECD protocols, on four trophic levels, under acute exposure conditions: algae (OECD TG 201), daphnias (OECD TG 202), fish (OECD TG 203) and bacteria (OECD TG 209). Additionnally chronic endpoints have been obtained on algae (OECD TG 201) and invertebrates (OECD TG 211). Results are stated as nominal concentrations, as MWCNTs are highly insoluble. A tentative PNEC is derived from algae data, but it has to be emphasized that it does not reflect inherent toxic properties but more probably modification of the test medium causing depletion of iron micro-nutrient level, necessary for growth.
