Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In the table below the available acute and chronic ecotoxicity data for all three trophic levels, and microorganism, are given:

ErC10 (72h)

All nominal acute and chronic freshwater test results are > 100 mg/L.

Daphnia

In the daphnia limit test (OECD202) no effects were observed up to the nominal loading rate of 100 mg/l corresponding to a HPLC/DAD measured concentration of 100 mg/l.

Algae

In the algae limit test (OECD201) no effects were observed up to the nominal loading rate of 100 mg/l corresponding to the geometric mean of HPLC/DAD measured concentration of 78.7 mg/l. ErC50 has been determined to be >100mg/l nominal loading rate corresponding to the geometric mean of HPLC/DAD measured concentration of 78.7 mg/l.

Fish

No effects are observed up to the limit test of 1000mg/l (verification by TOC) in an acute fish test according to OECD203.

Microorganism

No effects are observed up to the highest nominal test concentration of 100mg/l without analytical verification according to an OECD209 study.

Hydrolysis products

The registration substance can be hydrolysed at environmental relevant ambient pH and temperature. The direct products ε-caprolactam (CAS105-60-2) and acetic acid (CAS64-19-7) are well investigated, readily biodegradable substances which show no aquatic effects below 100mg/L and have low potential to bioaccumulate.

CONCLUSION

Fish, Daphnia, Algae and Toxicity to microorganism were tested with the registration substance. Up to the used limit concentrations no ecotoxicty was observed. PNECs have been derived to enable a worst case risk assessment only.
