Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
vapour pressure
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
1993
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
study well documented, meets generally accepted scientific principles, acceptable for assessment
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Principle of test:
Allyl Isothiocyanate vapour pressure was measured using the transpiration method.

Short description of test conditions:
Ca. 3 ml of Allyl Isothiocyanate was dispensed into the receptacle of the transpiration measurement device. Dry nitrogen gas or nitrogen gas of 80% relative humidity was introduced into the receptacle at a constant flow rate and Allyl Isothiocyanate vapor was guided into a trap cooled with liquid nitrogen.
The trap was removed after a fixed period of time and the liquefied Allyl Isothiocyanate was diluted homogeneously with 2 ml di acetone. This test solution was analysed by Gas Chromatography and the volume of Allyl Isothiocyanate trapped was determined using a calibration curve prepared beforehand. Measurement was performed three times at 0% relative humidity and twice at 80%.

Parameters analysed / observed:
Vapour pressure of Allyl Isothiocyanate at relative humidities of 0% and 80%.
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
other: transpiration method
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Test item purity 99.9%
Test no.:
#1

Conclusions:
Vapor pressure of Allyl Isothiocyanate is 3.4 mmHg at 23°C.
