Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Inhalation: First aid measures not required, but get fresh air for personal comfort.

Skin contact: First aid measures not required, but wash exposed skin with soap and water for hygienic reasons.

Eye contact: Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water, also under the eyelids. Use lukewarm water if possible.

Ingestion Rinse mouth then drink plenty of water. If a large quantity has been ingested or if you feel unwell, get medical advice/attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media: Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment. Carbon dioxide (CO2), Extinguishing powder, Water spray (fog).

Unsuitable extinguishing media: High volume water jet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Thermal decomposition can lead to release of irritating and toxic gases and vapours.

Hazardous combustion products: Carbon monoxide (CO), Carbon dioxide (CO2).

Advice for firefighters

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.

Additional information

Cool containers with flooding quantities of water until well after fire is out.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Wear safety glasses, gloves, protective clothing and rubber boots for hygienic reasons.

Environmental precautions

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Minimize the area spreading and cover the drains. Do not allow to enter sewers/ surface or ground water. See Section 12 in the Safety Data Sheet for additional ecological information.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Methods for containment

Small spill: Absorb with earth, sand or other non-combustible material and transfer to containers for later disposal. Take up mechanically, placing in appropriate containers for disposal.

Large spill: Pump up the product into a spare container suitably labelled.

Methods for cleaning up

Clean contaminated surface thoroughly.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas.

General Hygiene Considerations

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Keep/store only in original container. Keep tightly closed in a dry and cool place. Keep away from heat. Protect from direct sunlight. In contact with air/oxygen the product will slowly form peroxides. Can form peroxides when stored in opened, unsealed containers.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls

Appropriate engineering controls: No specific measures identified.

Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment

Eye/face protection: If handled where risk of splashes may occur, use safety goggles.

Hand Protection Recommendation(s): Wear protective gloves. Ensure that the breakthrough time of the glove material is not exceeded. Refer to glove supplier for information on breakthroughtime for specific gloves.

Skin and body protection: Normal work clothes for the chemical industry (long legs and sleeves).

Respiratory protection: None under normal use conditions.

Environmental exposure controls

Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained. Do not allow into any sewer, on the ground or into any body of water.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

There exists no specific test data for this product.

Chemical stability

In contact with air/oxygen the product will slowly form peroxides.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

In contact with air/oxygen the product will slowly form peroxides.

Conditions to avoid

None under normal use conditions.

Incompatible materials

Oxidizing substances including air (oxygen).

Hazardous decomposition products

Thermal decomposition can lead to release of irritating and toxic gases and vapours: Carbon monoxide (CO), Carbon dioxide (CO2).

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Waste from residues/unused products

The product is classified as hazardous waste and must be disposed of as such. Incinerate at a licensed installation.

Contaminated packaging

Thoroughly emptied and clean packaging may be recycled. Contaminated packaging materials must be disposed of in the same manner as the product.

Waste codes / waste designations according to EWC / AVV

Waste codes should be assigned by the user based on the application for which the product was used. Recommended Use: 16 03 05*.
