Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusion on classification

Studies investigating the short-term aquatic toxicity of 1,3-Propanediol, 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)-, allyl ether are available for freshwater fish, Daphnia and algae, showing L(E)C50 values of 52 mg/L (fish, 96-h LC50), 69.9 mg/L (Daphnia, 48-h EC50) and >100 mg/L (algae, 72-h EC50). Long-term ecotoxicity data are not available and the substance was concluded to be not readily biodegradable. As such, based on available data 1,3-Propanediol, 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)-, allyl ether is concluded to be 'not classified' for aquatic hazard classification under CLP (EC No. 1272/2008), but is classified as Aquatic Acute category 3 (H402) (Harmful to aquatic life) under GHS. Given the absence of long-term ecotoxicity data and the fact that the substance is not readily biodegradable, aquatic chronic classification has been derived based on available acute ecotoxicity data as Aquatic Chronic category 3 (H412) (Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects) under CLP (EC No. 1272/2008) and GHS.
