Description of key information

The toxicity of SODIUM OLIVOYL GLUTAMATE for the aquatic compartment has been investigated in two GLP studies according to OECD Gudelines 201 and 202, with the following results:
- OECD 202 - Daphnia magna - The test was performed in semi-static conditions, with medium renewal after 24 hours. No adverse effect was observed after 48 hours of exposure at the nominal concentration of 100.0 mg test item/L; this value corresponds to 54.13 mg test item/L expressed as time-weighted arithmetic mean of test item measured concentrations
- OECD 201 - Freshwater alga and cyanobateria, Growth inhibition test - The test was performed on Raphidocelis subcapitata (also known as Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata), exposted to substance at concentration ranging from 4.3 to 100 mg/L (nominal concentrations). The 72 hr ErC 50 (for algae) is > 9.64 mg/L (growth rate) and the chronic NOEC (for algae) is 2.32 mg/L (growth rate) expressed as geometric means of test item measured concentrations.

Additional information

According to Regulation (EC) n. 1272/2008, the study results indicate that the substance should not be classified for aquatic toxicity because data are judged as "inconclusive".
