Description of key information

No experimental ADME data available. However, considering the chemical structure, the target substance N-(2 -ethylhexyl)isononan-1 -amide is likely to be bioavailable through gastrointestinal tract. The metabolic fate in mammals was further predicted using the expert decision support tool METEOR based on the chemical structure. In mammals, the major biotransformation (the probable pathway in METEOR) of the target substance is considered to be enzymatic hydrolysis, generating corresponding metabolites of isonanoic acid and 2 -ethylhexylamine. The generated metabolite isonanoic acid is further biotransformed into smaller molecules used in the cells by ß-oxidation or conjugated to glucuronides by UDP glucuronosyltransferase. The metabolite 2-ethylhexylamine is considered to be further metabolized via CYP450 mediated oxidative deamination followed by glucuronide conjugation. The formed glucuronides are very water-soluble and will be eliminated from the body mainly through urine or feces. A bioaccumulation potential of the target substance is thus not to be expected. In the absence of experimental data however, default values of 100% absorption for inhalation, dermal and oral route of exposure as per REACH Guidance are used.
