- Duplicate samples from the freshly prepared test media of all test concentrations and the control were taken at the start of the test and at day 3.
For the determination of the stability of the test item under the test conditions, respectively the maintenance of the test item concentrations during the test period, samples were taken in duplicate out of all test media and the control at day1 and at the end of the test (96 hours) from the approximate centre of the aquaria.
However, from the test concentration of 1.235 mg test item/L duplicate samples were taken at day 2, respectively, because all fish were dead.
The samples were diluted by a factor of two with acetonitrile.

- Due to the low limit of water solubility of the test item, a filtrate of nominal 100 mg/L was prepared. Dilutions of 1:3, 1:9, 1:27, 1:81, 1:243 and 1:729 of this filtrate were used as test concentrations. Additionally, a control was tested in parallel.
The following geometric mean measured concentrations of the test item correspond to the above mentioned dilutions:
9.92, 3.09, 1.02, 0.335, 0.0728 and 0.0294 mg test item/L, and a control.
In the control, test water was used without addition of the test item.
Supersaturated stock solutions of nominal 100 mg test item/L were prepared by suspending 520 mg test item in 5200 mL test water. Each stock solution was stirred for 48 hours at room temperature in the dark to dissolve as much test item as possible. Then non-dissolved fractions of the test item were separated from the test medium by membrane filtration (0.45 µm cellulose acetate filter). Adequate volumes of this filtrate were mixed into test water to obtain the desired dilutions of 1:3, 1:9, 1:27, 1:81, 1:243 and 1:729. These dilutions were used as test concentrations
The test media were prepared just before introduction of the test fish (= start of the test and test medium renewal on day 1, 2 and 3). - Test organisms (species):

They were held in water of the quality to be used in the test for at least seven days immediately before testing under the following conditions:

The test fish were observed at test start and after approximately 2, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours test duration for sublethal effects and mortality. Dead fish were removed at least once daily and discarded.
