Additional information

The information presented in regard to acute fish, and daphnia toxicity, toxicity to aquatic algae and microogranisms, as well as the ready biodegradability of trimethylamine N-oxide indicates no hazard to any compartment of the environment and that there is no potential for bioaccumulation.

Conclusion on classification

Data from all three trophic levels indicate a lack of toxic effect at the maximum concentrations tested.  Therefore, trimethylamine N-oxide does not meet the classification criteria of EC 1272/2008 (as amended) for environmental hazards.
