Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
other:
Justification for type of information:
As a preliminary test the sample was placed in a refrigerator whose cooling limit was -40°C. No solid formed after 3 days of storage under -40°C. The melting point was therefore below -40°C. According to Column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the study is not required and no actual determination was made.
Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
data from handbook or collection of data
Justification for type of information:
1-Butanol is the main hydrolysis prodcut of the target substance. Properties of 1-butanol are used for read-across.
Guideline:
other: not specified.
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
other: not specified
Key result
Melting / freezing pt.:
ca. -88.6 °C
Atm. press.:
ca. 1 atm
Conclusions:
The melting point of 1-butanol is -88.6°C under 1 atm according to lieterature.
Executive summary:

As the target substance hydrolyses rapidly the intrinsic properties are related to hydrolysis products of the target substance. This information is used as a supporting evidence on the toxicity of the target substance in CSA.

Description of key information

Melting point data of the hydrolyisis product 1 -butanol obtained from literature (handbook).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-88.6 °C

Additional information

As the target substance hydrolyses rapidly the intrinsic properties are related to hydrolysis products of the target substance. This information is used as a supporting evidence on the toxicity of the target substance in CSA.
