Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

Endpoint:
flash point of flammable liquids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the flash point is only relevant to liquids and low melting point solids
Cross-referenceopen allclose all
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
data waiving: supporting information
Reference
Endpoint:
appearance / physical state / colour
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From May 10, 2016 to June 01, 2016
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Based on another study i.e. Kintrup, 2016 (Boiling point determination).
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
reference to same study
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The appearance, physical state and colour were visually determined.
GLP compliance:
not specified
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Batch no.: 3837
Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
solid
Key result
Form:
solid: particulate/powder
Colour:
white
Substance type:
organic
Conclusions:
The substance is a solid white powder at ambient temperature.
Executive summary:

The substance is a solid white powder at ambient temperature (Kintrup, 2016).

Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
data waiving: supporting information
Reference
Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From May 10, 2016 to May 31, 2016
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.1 (Melting / Freezing Temperature)
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Batch no.: 3837
Appearance: white powder
Key result
Decomposition:
yes
Remarks:
probably a thermal decomposition
Decomp. temp.:
225 °C
Remarks on result:
other: atm. press.: not specified

Individual values:

225°C (from first measurement)

225°C (from second measurement)

224°C (from third measurement)

From 225°C the test substance showed most probably a thermal decomposition (a melting >225°C can't be excluded).

Conclusions:
Under the study conditions, the substance did not show any melting and underwent thermal decomposition from 225°C.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted to determine the melting point of the substance according to OECD Guideline 102. To determine the melting behaviour (three independent single measurements), the test substance was measured by DSC between -90°C and 500°C with a heating / cooling rate of 10 K/min in 4 cycles. For the measurement a capsulated crucible was used. Under the study conditions, the substance did not show any melting and underwent thermal decomposition from 225°C (Kintrup, 2016).
