Introduction
The objective of the study was to determine the 24 and 48-hour EC50 toxicity values for Medol-10 (known hereafter as Subject Chemical) exposure to Daphnia magna.
Results
The overall mean measured concentrations of the Subject Chemical were 7.54, 15.4, 30.3, 61.3, 122, 242, 487 and 983 mg/L, corresponding to 97, 99, 97, 98, 98, 97, 97 and 98 % of the nominal concentrations, respectively.
Conclusion
The test item was found to be toxic to Daphnia magna under the conditions. It was concluded that the 48-hour EC50 and NOEC in Daphnia Magna were 151 and 62.5 mg/L, respectively.

Additional information
A determination of the acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates of MEDOL-10 was conducted (Covance Laboratories Ltd, 2007, Study 2777/005-D2149). The study was performed in accordance with the EPA test guideline OPPTS 850.1010, and in compliance with GLP.
Following a preliminary range-finding test, 20 less than 24 hours old Daphnia magna (4 replicates of 5 animals) were exposed to aqueous solutions of MEDOL-10 at nominal concentrations of 7.81, 15.6, 31.3, 62.5, 125, 250, 500 and 1000 mg/Lin ASTM medium for 48 hours at a temperature of 20 °C under static test conditions.
Analysis of the fresh and old test preparations showed the measured concentrations to be within the range of 80 – 120 % ; hence, the results are expressed in terms of nominal concentrations.
The test item was found to be toxic to Daphnia magna under the conditions. The highest concentration at which no immobilisation occurred was 62.5 mg/L at 48-hours, whereas the lowest concentration at which 100% immobilisation occurred was 1000 mg/L. It was concluded that the 48-hour EC50 and NOEC in Daphnia Magna were 151 and 62.5 mg/L, respectively.
