Reference substance:
2,3-dihydroxypropyl methacrylate
Name:
2,3-dihydroxypropyl methacrylate
Type of composition:
legal entity composition of the substance
State / form:
liquid
Reference substance:
2,3-dihydroxypropyl methacrylate
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Persistence

The degree of biodegradation of the test material at the end of the ten day window was approx. 73 % CO2/ThCO2. Glycerol Monomethacrylate (GMMA) was readily biodegradable under the conditions of this test.  According to the classification criteria listed in the CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 substances which pass the screening test are considered to biodegradate 'rapidly' in the aquatic environment.

Based on available data listed above biodegradation is confirmed and it may be concluded that the substance does not possess P or vP properties

Bioaccumulation

The value of log Pow was determined to be -0.12 at temperature of 23 °C and pH = 6.2. The substance has a low potential for bioconcentration and will not accumulate to significant levels in the aquatic environment. Therefore, the substance does not meet the Bioaccumulative (B) or very Bioaccumulative (vB) criteria.

Toxicity

The substance is not considered as a toxic regarding ecotoxicological endpoints.

Human Health Toxicity:

Carcinogenicity: the available data do not warrant classification for carcinogenicity under GHS/CLP.

Mutagenicity: the available data indicate that that the substance is not genotoxic or mutagenic and do not warrant classification for carcinogenicity under GHS/CLP.

Reproductive Toxicity: the substance is not classified for reproductive or developmental toxicity under GHS/CLP.

Chronic toxicity: due to the results of the relevant studies is not classified as STOT RE.

The substance does not meet the (T) criteria.
