Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Tert-Butyl glycidyl ether was tested according to OECD 301F to be not readily biodegradable. Based on this available information, the test substance is considered to be vP (and P).

Tert-Butyl glycidyl ether has a partition coefficient (log Pow) of 0.97, hence lacks any bioaccumulation potential.

The test substance is neither classified as carcinogenic (category 1A or 1B), mutagenic (category 1A or 1B), or toxic for reproduction (category 1A or 1B, or 2), nor is there other evidence of chronic toxicity, as identified by the classifications "STOT RE 1, or STOT RE 2" according to CLP Regulation. Furthermore, D. magna were identified as most sensitive organism in the tests for aquatic toxicity with a 48-h EC50 of 14.9 mg/L. No chronic data are available.

Since the EC50 is above 0.01 mg/L, the substance is not considered to fulfil the toxicity criterion T.

In conclusion, tert-Butyl glycidyl ether is not readily biodegradable, not bioaccumulating, and does not fulfil any of the T-criteria. Therefore, the substance does not qualify for classification as PBT.
