Reference
Endpoint:
storage stability and reactivity towards container material
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study without detailed documentation
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
CIPAC MT 39.3 (Low temperature stability test (liquids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Other quality assurance:
ISO/IEC 17025 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories)
Type of method:
other: Non-agitated immersion test in laboratory
Results:
For carbon steel as well as for aluminum corrosion rates of lower than 0.01 mm/y were found with no signs of corrosion. Therefore Resorcindiacetat HF has to be considered as non-corrosive.
Storage stability / reactivity towards container material:
other: With corrosion rates <0.01 mm/y on aluminum and on carbon steel and without findings, according to UNECE 37.4, the test substance Resorcindiacetat HF has to be considered as non-corrosive.

Result of the corrosion test for Steel Type No. 1.0037 and Aluminium Type No. 3.4365:

Type of metal  Sample No.  Immersed in  Corrosion rate (mm/a)  Type of corrsoion
 Steel ST37-1   full  < 0,01  no findings
 Steel  ST37-2  half  < 0,01  no findings
Steel  ST37-3  vapor phase  < 0,01  no findings
 Aluminium  7075-1   full  < 0,01  no findings
 Aluminium  7075-2   half  < 0,01  no findings
Aluminium  7075-3   vapor phase  < 0,01  no findings
Conclusions:
For carbon steel as well as for aluminum corrosion rates of lower than 0.01 mm/y were found with no signs of corrosion. Therefore Resorcindiacetat HF has to be considered as non-corrosive.
Executive summary:

For the classification of Resorcindiacetat HF according to the test method "Test for determining the corrosive properties of liquids and solids that may become liquid during transport as dangerous goods of class 8, packing group III” a corrosion test was executed. In a non-agited immersion test for carbon steel as well as for aluminum corrosion rates of lower than 0.01 mm/y were found with no signs of corrosion. With corrosion rates <0.01 mm/y on aluminum and on carbon steel and without findings, according to UNECE 37.4, the test substance Resorcindiacetat HF has to be considered as non-corrosive.

Description of key information

For the carbon steel material as well as for the aluminum material corrosion rates of lower than 0.01 mm/y were found with no signs of corrosion. Therefore Resorcindiacetat HF has to be considered as non-corrosive.

Additional information

With corrosion rates <0.01 mm/y on aluminum and on carbon steel and without findings, according to UNECE 37.4, the test substance Resorcindiacetat HF has to be considered as non-corrosive.
