Check of the Apparatus

The apparatus was checkedwithcaffeineand ultra-pure water. The check of the apparatus showed that the instrument worked correctly and was fit for purpose.

Preliminary Test

The test item was put into the capillary tube, fused at one end, so that the filling level was approximately 5 to 10 mm. Then the filled capillary tube was placed in the metal heating block of the instrument. The test was started at 30 °C. The heating rate was 5 K/min.

A preliminary test was performed since no information of the expected boiling point was available.

The following observations were made:

At 256 °C:        The test item formed bubbles.

At 260 °C:        The test item began to change colour to dark-yellow .

As the test item started to decompose at 260 °C and no boiling point could be determined. Therefore no main test was performed.

Main Test

Preliminary testing showed that the test item decomposed during measurement and therefore no main test was performed.

 

Conclusions:
The test was carried out following OECD guideline No. 103 and EC method A.2. No boiling point could be determined as test item started to decompose at a temperature of 260°C.
