Administrative data
First-aid measures
Eyes: Flush eyes with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Remove any contact lenses and open eyelids widely. Seek medical attention, if irritation persist.Skin:remove contaminated clothes. Wash skin with water and soap. Seek medical attention in case of signt of toxic effects.Ingestion:Immediately ribnse mouth and drink 1-2 glasses of water. Keep person under observation. If uncomfortable: Seek hospital. Provokse vomiting, provided the injured is conscious.Inhalation:Bring injured person into fresh air and keep person calm and under observation. If uncomfortable: Seek hospital.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agents:Extinguish with carbon dioxide or dry powder.Products arising from burning or pyrolysis: Very toxic vapours may be formed (COx, NOx, HCN, F)Protective equipment:Full breathing protection, gloves, goggles.
Accidental release measures
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid inhalation of dust. Use personal protection (e.g. gloves, safety goggles adn breathing apparatus). Do not discharge into drains, water courses or on the ground. Isolate the spillage. Use vacuum cleaner. If this is not possible, humidify the dust with very little water and transfer spillage to closed containers. Dispose-off waste accroding to national, state and local regulations.
Handling and storage
Handling:Inhalation of dust and contact with skin and eyes should be avoided. Work practice should minimise contact. Adequate ventilation is required. Inhalation of dust should be minimised. In case of ventilation and work of brief duration, suitable respiratory equipement should be used (particle filter, type 3). Protective gloves and goggles/face shield should be used. Special working clothing should be used. Hands should be washed after handling.Storage:Should be stored in original containers in a dry place.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Working environment:All rooms are well ventilated and with local process ventilation, where appropriate. Cleaning procedures are in force everywhere (GMP production).Direct exposure to (R,S)-Dicarbinol hemisulfate only when discharging filtered material into bags in seperate room .Exposure will be potential direct skin contact and inhalation of dust. Personal protection at discharge into drums: Disposable suit, working shoes, gloves, breathing apparatus.Minor, potential exposure occurs when handling process waste, waste water, sampling for quality and process control, at laboratory work, cleaning and at maintenance of process equipment. Personal equipment elsewhere: Working clothes with long sleeves, gloves where risk of skin contact, goggles where risk of eye contact, breathing apparatus where risk of exposure to dust or solvents.

Disposal considerations
Environment:Process water, may be directed to external disposal (organic liquid waste from centrifuge) or in part to our biological treatment plant (aqueous phase after quenching of Grignard reactant). All air from vacuum pumps and other high concentration sources passes through multistep scrubber system.Ventilation air passes absolute filters (HEPA). All chemical waste materials and process water containing solvents or dissolved chemicals are sent to external incineration.
