First-aid measures

After inhalation : Move to fresh air. Make the victim blow his nose. Seek medical advice.

After contact with skin : Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If inflammation occurs, alert a physician.

After contact with eyes : Rinse with plenty of lukewarm water for approx. 15 minutes (with open eyes). If discomfort occurs, seek medical help.

After ingestion : Do not induce vomiting. Make the victim rinse his mouth with water.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Water, dry powder, carbon dioxide or alcohol-resistant foam.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Fire may liberate toxic gases and fumes, carbon and nitrogen oxides.

Advice for fire-fighters: Usual protective equipment, self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Do not breathe vapour. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid prolonged or repeated exposure.

Environmental precautions: Prevent large amounts of the substance from entering the environment.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Evacuate area. Remove all sources of ignition. Absorb spill using an absorbent, non-combustible material such as soda or dry lime. Place in suitable container for disposal. Using non-sparking tools and transport outdoors. Ventilate area and wash spill site after material pick up is complete.

Handling and storage

Handling

The substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for isolated intermediates on-site.

Specifically the substance is rigorously contained by technical means during its whole lifecycle; procedural and control technologies are used to minimise emissions and any resulting exposures; only properly trained and authorised personnel handle the substance; special procedures such as purging and washing are applied during cleaning and maintenance works, in cases of accident and where waste is generated, procedural and/or control technologies are used to minimise emissions and the resulting exposures; and substance-handling procedures are well documented and strictly supervised by the site operator.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place. Keep container tightly closed when not in use.

Eye protection: Wear chemical safety goggles.

Hand protection: Wear chemical-resistant gloves (leather, rubber or plastic).

Skin protection: Suitable work clothes.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: no data available

Chemical stability: stable under normal conditions

Hazardous decomposition products: carbon oxides

Disposal considerations

The substance should be disposed of in a hazardous waste incinerator with a gas scrubber in compliance with regional waste disposal regulations. Containers should be rinsed thoroughly with water and recycled or disposed of as waste.
