The aerobic degradation of the substance was evaluated according to the OECD Guideline 301F and EU Method C.4 -D.

A measured volume of inoculated mineral medium, containing a known concentration of test item as the nominal sole source of organic carbon, was stirred in a closed flask at a constant temperature for up to 28 days. The consumption of oxygen was determined from the change in pressure in the apparatus. Evolved carbon dioxide was absorbed in soda lime. The amount of oxygen taken up by the microbial population during biodegradation of the test item (corrected for uptake by blank inoculum, run in parallel) was expressed as a percentage of Theoretical Oxygen Demand (ThOD). Toxicity, abiotic and positive control run in parallel.

The 10-day-window began on day 2 (lag phase), at its end (day 12), 61 % were reached, staying above the pass level of 60 % given in the OECD guideline.

The substance was biodegraded by 72 % after 28 days under the test conditions and meets the 10 -day window criterion.

The test substance can be considered as readily biodegradable.
