An expert assessment was undertaken using available literature and an existing KOWWIN V1.68 QSAR prediction for Kow for 1-[(2-hydroxyethyl)thio]propan-2-ol. The soil adsorption (Koc) coefficient for 1-[(2-hydroxyethyl)thio]propan-2-ol was not calculated due to the registration substance having a low potential for adsorption, which was inferred from a log Kow value of -0.02 that is below 3.

As 1-[(2-hydroxyethyl)thio]propan-2-ol has a log Kow of -0.20 that is below 3, the substance is expected to have a low potential for adsorption and, therefore, additional adsorption-desorption data is not required under REACH Annex VIII. Any sorption of 1-[(2-hydroxyethyl)thio]propan-2-ol] to soil or sediment will be negligible.
