First-aid measures

1 Description of first aid measures

General information:

Take affected persons out of danger area and lay down.

Immediately remove any clothing soiled by the product.

Remove breathing equipment only after contaminated clothing have been completely removed.

In case of irregular breathing or respiratory arrest provide artificial respiration.

· After inhalation: Supply fresh air or oxygen; call for doctor. In case of unconsciousness place patient stably in side position for transportation.

· After skin contact: Immediately rinse with water. Call a doctor immediately.

· After eye contact: IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Seek medical treatment.

· After swallowing: Rinse out mouth and then drink plenty of water. If symptoms persist consult doctor. Do NOT induce vomiting.

2 Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

3 Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Medical supervision for at least 48 hours.

Later observation for pneumonia and pulmonary oedema.

Fire-fighting measures

1 Extinguishing media

· Suitable extinguishing agents: CO2, powder or water spray. Fight larger fires with water spray or alcohol resistant foam. Use fire extinguishing methods suitable to surrounding conditions.

Fiberglass. Crosslinked high density polyethylene (HDPE). Glass-lined container. Do not store in: Opened or unlabeled containers. Zinc. Lead. Iron. Stainless steel.

· Respiratory protection:

In case of brief exposure or low pollution use respiratory filter device. In case of intensive or longer exposure use self-contained respiratory protective device. Organic vapor cartridge, type A (boiling point >65 ºC)

· Protection of hands: Protective gloves

Only use chemical-protective gloves with CE-labelling of category III.

The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product/ the substance/ the preparation. Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation.

· Material of gloves

The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Polyethylene. Ethyl vinyl alcohol laminate ("EVAL"). Viton. Polyvinyl alcohol ("PVA"). Examples of acceptable glove barrier materials include: Neoprene. Chlorinated polyethylene. Natural rubber ("latex"). Polyvinyl chloride ("PVC" or "vinyl"). Nitrile/butadiene rubber ("nitrile" or "NBR"). Avoid gloves made of: Butyl rubber. When prolonged or frequently repeated contact may occur, a glove with a protection class of 5 or higher (breakthrough time greater than 240 minutes according to EN 374) is recommended. When only brief contact is expected, a glove with a protection class of 3 or higher (breakthrough time greater than 60 minutes according to EN 374) is recommended.

· Penetration time of glove material

The exact break through time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.

· Eye protection: Tightly sealed goggles

· Body protection: Protective work clothing

Stability and reactivity

4 Conditions to avoid

Exposure to elevated temperatures can cause product to decompose. Do not blanket or purge with an inert gas to avoid depleting the oxygen concentration. Avoid open flames, welding arcs, or other high temperature sources which induce thermal decomposition
