Description of key information

The Partition Coefficient (n-octanol/water), log Pow, of (3-Ammonio-4-methoxyphenyl)(2 hydroxyethyl) ammonium sulphate was determined to be 0.59 , measured by the HPLC method (OECD 117).

The Partition Coefficient of(3-Ammonio-4-methoxyphenyl)(2 hydroxyethyl) ammonium sulphate was determined following the OECD 117 guideline (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol/water) using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)) and the GLP. 

The test was conducted with a concentration of approximately 10 mg/L in mobile phase consisting of 60% methanol and 40% HPLC water. Samples of the test substance were analysed in duplicates via HPLC on a C18 column with DAD - detection.

The pH-value of the mobile phase was determined to be 7.51.

Calibration was performed using eight reference substances with known log Pow values (given by the guideline), each with a nominal concentration of approximately 10 mg/L (except for 2-butanone which was prepared with a concentration of approximately 200 mg/L) in mobile phase. Dead time of the HPLC-system was determined threefold using approximately 10 mg/L sodium nitrate in mobile phase.

The Partition Coefficient (n-octanol/water), log Pow, of test item was determined to be 0.59, measured by the HPLC method.
