PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Taking into account the lack of biodegradation in a ready biodegradation test and the partial degradation in the porous pot removal test, the substance (3-ammonio-4-methoxyphenyl)(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium sulphate is considered as persistent or very persistent on the basis of screening criteria.

At environmental pH, the log Kow of the substance (3-ammonio-4-methoxyphenyl)(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium sulphate at ambient temperature is 0.59. This low log Kow indicates that the substance has hydrophilic properties and is not considered as bioaccumulable or very bioaccumulable.

The acute toxicity on Daphnia and algae are higher than 0.1 mg/L. Therefore (3-ammonio-4-methoxyphenyl) (2-hydroxyethyl) ammonium sulphate is not considered as T on the basis of these aquatic acute toxicity results.

The substance is neither classified as carcinogenic (cat. 1A or 1B), nor germ cell mutagenic (Cat. 1A or 1B), nor toxic for the reproduction ((cat. 1A, 1B or 2). However it is classified as "Specific Target Organ Toxicity Repeated Exposure category 2 ", and due to this classification, it has to be considered as Toxic.

The substance (3-ammonio-4-methoxyphenyl)(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium sulphate is P/vP and Toxic, however it is not bioaccumulable. Therefore it is not considered as PBT or vPvB.
