Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No study on the toxicity of the substance to soil macro-organisms is available. The study does not need to be conducted because direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely – [exposure considerations]

2-tert-butylaminoethyl methacrylate CAS 3775-90-4 is a monomer used in the manufacture of acrylic copolymers used as ingredients in personal care and industrial products.  Manufacture of the monomer and the polymers containing it, takes place outside the European Community. The 2-tert-butylaminoethyl methacrylate is typically incorporated in the polymer at up to 4% with more than >99.75 % of the monomer bound in the polymer with only <0.25 % of unbound residual monomer. The estimated remaining residual fraction is <0.01% in polymers imported into the EU is therefore <0.2 tons (<200kg). Due to the limited stability of the 2-tert-butylaminoethyl methacrylate under environmental conditions and the negligible potential for exposure in the environment it is considered justified to waive Annex IX ecotoxicity testing.
