Description of key information

According to REACH regulation annex IX and X column 2, 9.4 "These studies [short and long-time exposure] do not need to be conducted if direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely."

Ozone is a gas and will move to the atmosphere after being released in the environment. Ozone is a reactive substance which will, as soon as it comes into contact, react immediately with soil components such as organic material and metal ions. Plants could be exposed to it via the atmosphere. However, the amounts of biocidal ozone released to the atmosphere are negligible when compared to the level of ozone already present in ambient air. For this reason acute toxicity to plants is not addressed in this dossier.
