Description of key information
This compound is very soluble in water but unstable, rapidly degrading mainly to the less toxic chloride ion. It is highly toxic to aqueous invertebrates, plants and algae. The limited studies on microorganisms in activated sludge indicate moderate toxicity. The use of this compound as biocide suggests high toxicity to bacteria present in other situations.
