Endpoint:
dissociation constant
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Study period:
October 15th 1991
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: It doesn´t follow OECD guideline nr. 112.
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The conductivity (K) of a series of dilute solutions of sodium chlorite is obtained by measuring the resistance of the solutions with a conductivity cell. The equivalent conductance ('A), the equivalent conductance at infinite dilution (AoJ and finallly the dissociation constant can be calculated.
GLP compliance:
yes
Remarks on result:
other: Dissociation constant= 141
Conclusions:
The dissociation constant is 141.
Executive summary:

The aim of the study was to determine the dissociation constant.

The study was conducted according to the written standard operating procedures in effect at Case Consulting Laboratories during the time the study is being performed.

The result is as follows:

The dissociation constant is 141.

Endpoint:
dissociation constant
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance has no ionic structure
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
In accordance to REACH Annex XI Section 1, with reference to the guidance mentioned in REACH Art 13(3) the test guidance "ECHA guidance on Information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.7a Endpoint specific guidance" needs to be respected. This guidance (R.7.1.17.1) indicates that the testing is scientifically unnecessary. Measurement of pKa is irrelevant as the substance cannot dissociate due to a lack of relevant functional groups.

Description of key information

In accordance to REACH Annex XI Section 1, with reference to the guidance mentioned in REACH Art 13(3) the test guidance "ECHA guidance on Information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.7a Endpoint specific guidance" needs to be respected. This guidance (R.7.1.17.1) indicates that the testing is scientifically unnecessary. Measurement of pKa is irrelevant as the substance cannot dissociate due to a lack of relevant functional groups.
