Reference
Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: GLP guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 117 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), HPLC Method)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
HPLC method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
< -4.2
Temp.:
23 °C
Remarks on result:
other: estimated from the single solubilities in n-octanol and in water

The solubility of the test item in n-octanol is insufficient (< 10 mg/l), therefore the determination of log Pow corresponding to OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals 107 (shake flask method) is not feasible. As the test item is also not feasible for the HPLC-method (OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals 117), because it consists of a complex mixture (UVCB substance), the log Pow can only be estimated from the solubilities of the test item in water and in n-octanol and can be considered as < - 4.2 at 23 °C.

Conclusions:
The solubility of the test item in n-octanol is insufficient (< 10 mg/l), therefore the determination of log Pow corresponding to OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals 107 (shake flask method) is not feasible. As the test item is also not feasible for the HPLC-method (OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals 117), because it consists of a complex mixture (UVCB substance), the log Pow can only be estimated from the solubilities of the test item in water and in n-octanol and can be considered as < - 4.2 at 23 °C.

Description of key information

The solubility of the supporting substance Fe(Na)EDDHA (CAS 84539 -55 -9) in n-octanol is insufficient (< 10 mg/l), therefore the determination of log Pow corresponding to OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals 107 (shake flask method) is not feasible.
